Greece and its lenders are hopeful that they will be able to reach an agreement before Easter in Athens on Sunday, reports said on Friday.

European Finance Ministers have expressed their hope that an agreement can be reached at the Eurogroup meeting in Amsterdam. Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem said that he has heard positive news from Athens, and at the meeting today they would be informed by the lenders on the progress.

The EU Commissioner on Finance Pierre Moscovici said that Athens has made good progress and that there is only one week left to come to an agreement. Moscovici added that they are close to an agreement and that based on the Eurostat statistics he is positive.

IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has also expressed her happiness at the developments in Athens. She said that the new data is positive, and that they still need to examine all the details.

Lagarde said that a lot has been done but that they would need more for Greece to be able to stand on its feet again.
