New Peloponnese highway opening Monday
A new highway connecting Lefktro and Sparta in the Peloponnese is due to be inaugurated on Monday. Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis and other officials will take part in the opening ceremony.
The 2×2 lane highway stretches over 46 kilometers and will be operated and maintained under a 30-year concession by Moreas SA.
The road was constructed with the help of European Union structural funds.
The EU invested some 250 million euros in the construction of the Lefktro-Sparta highway and the 159-kilometer road connecting Corinth, Tripoli and Kalamata.
