ADEDY calls 24hr strike on 7 April over pension system reform
A 24-hour strike and demonstration have been announced for Thursday, the 7th of April, by public sector trade union ADEDY. The demonstration is scheduled for 11am on Klafthmonos Square.
ADEDY issued a statement calling employees from all sectors to join the strike actions, in order to protest the government’s pension system reform plans, which it claims will bring the collapse of social insurance.
According to ADEDY the pension reform will not salvage social insurance, but is rather the result of the third bailout provisions, which demand a reduction in pension expenses worth 1.8 billion for 2016 onwards.
