Anastasiades-Akinci set for new round of Cyprus talks
In negotiations up to now, gaps have been recorded in the property issue and the basic freedoms, causing the progress to be hindered in the process. Leaders have not been able to touch on the issues of territory or guarantees and security up until now.
UN Secretary General Special Adviser Espen Barth Eide has held separate meeting with Anastasiades and Akinci on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Eide has said that there is a unique chance for a solution, which will bring money and investment to the island. The UN Special Adviser said that the process in a very critical phase and the political agreements could happen between the leaders for which all the details haven’t been worked out. Eide did add, however, “As it is known, the devil is in the details.”
