Refugee donation drive organized in central Athens on Sunday
The Social Solidarity Network is organizing a donation drive on Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Syntagma Square in central Athens, in aid of refugees.
The nongovernmental group is calling on citizens to donate goods and items that will be distributed at refugee reception centers at Piraeus Port and at Elliniko on the capital’s southern coast.
Top-priority items include sleeping bags, rain gear for adults and children, thermal undergarments, baby carriers, blankets, garbage bags, personal hygiene products, disposable cutlery and food containers, long-life or powdered milk, baby formula, antiseptic wipes, fist-aid necessities such as adhesive stitches, gauze and tongue depressors, as well as basic medicines, particularly those for children.
