The situation at Idomeni is growing worse each day, following the recent unilateral actions of Serbia and FYROM to limit the number of refugees passing through their territories.

Nearly 10,000 refugees have gathered in the northern Greek town, with more expected to arrive as about 1,000 refugees are believed to enter Greece from Turkish shores.

Following the dramatic clashes on Monday, where FYROM riot police ‘repelled’ refugees (including women and children) with tear gas and flash bangs, the border crossing briefly opened. In response to the clashes, FYROM has increased its police and military presence in the neutral zone between the two countries.

About 30 refugees crossed over on Monday and a further 70 on Tuesday, while 100 have been allowed to go through on Wednesday. As of 9am though the border crossing has closed again, without any indication as to when it will reopen.
