Italian defender Mesto joins Panathinaikos
Italian defender Giandomenico Mesto, who was a free agent, has signed a one-and-a-half year contract with Panathinaikos, the Greek Super League club announced on Thursday.
Mesto, 33, spent the last three seasons with Napoli and has also played for Genoa and Udinese during a long career in his home country.
The right-back, who has won three caps for Italy, will try to help Panathinaikos improve on its current position of fourth in the Greek top flight.
It stands a remarkable 20 points behind the leader Olympiakos halfway through the season.
