European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis arrived earlier in Athens and will leave for the island Lesvos on Thursday to visit health centers and other areas accommodating refugees and migrants.

Commissioner Andriukaitis has already met with Health Minister Andreas Xanthos and Agriculture and Food Minister Evangelos Apostolou.
The Commissioner’s first stop will be Mytilene’s health center and then he will visit the UNHCR Reception Centre in Skala Sykamnias and the beach Platanos, where refugees and migrants arrive. Before he leaves the island, Andriukaitis will also visit the Identification and Registration Center in Moria.

On Friday, Andriukaitis will address the Greek parliament and afterwards he will give a press conference at the European Commission offices in Athens.
