P. Kammenos: It is September 11 for Europe
Defence Minister Panos Kammenos on Tuesday, upon his arrival at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on defence policy, stressed the importance of information exchange between the EU and NATO.
“Today we are all French. The EU Defence Ministers should take a decision because we have a new situation in Europe. It is September 11 for Europe. We must all assume our responsibilities. EU and NATO should exchange information” the minister said. He also added that the role NATO should play must be mainly at information exchange level.
Asked on the guarding of the borders, Kammenos replied: “The borders between Greece and Turkey are the Aegean Sea. Border control by the Defence ministry means killing children. This is impossible”.
