Magnitude 6.1 quake in Lefkada, leaves two dead
A woman lost her life from the magnitude 6.1 quake that rattled the Ionian Island of Lefkada and shook half of Greece. Citizens Protection representative Dimitris Georgoulopoulos confirmed the death, speaking with protothema.gr. The woman lost her life at the village of Ponti, near Vasiliki.
She died when a huge rock boulder struck a wall of her house down following a landslide. She died after being struck on the head.
Protothema.gr was also told from a regional authority that another man had lost his life at Ponti.
Other sources speak of a woman seriously injured at the village of Athani, near the quake’s focal point.
