Government officials to visit Lefkada
Government officials, including Infrastructure Minister Panagiotis Sgouridis, the General Secretary for Civil Protection Yiannis Kapakis, and the President of Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization Efthimios Lekas, will visit Lefkada to coordinate actions after the strong 6.1 earthquake that struck the island early on Tuesday.
“We have to be extremely careful to avoid similar situations as the ones on Cephalonia,” Lekas said to ANA-MPA adding that over 20 aftershocks have been recorded so far with the strongest (5.1 Richter) at 10.52 am.
Seismologists and engineers have already arrived on Lefkada to assist the operation.
