Energy Min Skourletis dismisses reports on power cuts
Environment and Energy Minister Panos Skourletis in statements to Parliament on Friday dismissed reports that Public Power Corporation (PPC) will cut the electricity to 700,000 households with debts.
“Social pricing will not change, none of our fellow citizens in need of engineering support will be left without power; this is totally false,” Skourletis reassured.
However, he said that the issue of PPC’s accumulated debt (more than 2 billion euros) should be considered as there are companies that have not paid their electricity bills since 2012. The minister cleared out that any measures will be taken on a social sensitivity basis.
