Police arrests one man in beating of New Democracy MP
Greek police has arrested a 24-year-old man in relation to the attack against New Democracy MP Giorgos Koumoutsakos which took place on Thursday evening during a rally of Pontic Greeks in central Athens and is searching for four more suspects, including a woman.
The man under custody is seen in the video hugging Koumoutsakos and leading him towards the riot police. In his statement he claimed he was leading the MP to safety and didn’t assault him, but authorities have detained him over the case.
All suspects have been identified, a police source said, adding that at least two of them are members of Golden Dawn.
