Church of Greece ready to assist refugees with food and housing
The Church of Greece wants to contribute to the refugee crisis by providing food, shelter and basic necessities to the people crossing from Turkey to Greece, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos, said on Friday.
Speaking after a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Metropolitans and mayors of islands affected by the crisis, the head of the Greek Church said it could assist by covering the food and temporary accommodation needs of the new arrivals, as well as providing personal hygiene items and other necessities.
