Dombrovskis says nothing about the tranche disbursement
The Vice President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, said no three times to the Greek government during their meeting, while he said nothing about the disbursement of the 2 bln tranche, even though last week he had said that Athens will receive the money.
More specifically, during the press conference Mr. Dombrovskis said that the refugee issue should not be connected with the process in the implementation of the program and its review, while on the red loans he stressed that the oppositions with the government is on the scale of protection. He stressed that Mr. Tsakalotos has told them that Greek government is seeking an honest compromise on non-performing loans adding that they have dealt with the same problem with many other countries and the solution proposed was to aim at the households which are in great need.
Commenting on a decision to impose a 23% rate on education, he said: “We had agreed with the Greek government to seek equal measures that will not underestimate the budget goals. It is up to the Greek authorities to present any alternative measures”.
Moreover, Mr. Dombrovskis did not reiterate his optimistic prediction that Greece would receive the 2 bln tranche within the following days.
